This is a very nice kalam by Allama Muhammad Iqbal .
Self (also known as Khudi ) of a person is everything . If inner self of a person is strong , that person never loses faith . Allama Iqbal realised this fact and most of his poetry is about improving inner self of muslims . A Strong inner self always urges the person to work through the difficulties and reach the destination .In this kalam Allama Iqbal gave the reasons for upbringing the self(Khudi) . As a muslim and brought up in a muslim society , I always have a strong inner self and I always do what my inner self tells me . I never follow others & that is what is told in this . The relation between the God ( Allah SWT) can also be created only if a person has a sound inner self(khudi) .
The couplet which is most Loving to me is this :-
Paani Paani Ker Gayi Mujh Ko Qalandar Ki Yeh Baat
Tu Jhuka Jab Ghair Ke Agay Na Tan Tera Na Mun
This message of Saint made me down to earth ( In Humility )
When you bowed in front of others you lost both inner and outer self
And this is true ever . Because when you start to depend on others instead of Allah (SWT) , you are liable to be be betrayed by them . Every person in this world just wants to fulfill all his needs and for this he/she can use you for a small or long period of time depending upon the need and circumstances . No one can be all sincere . Always there are limits of society , financial , social and religious constraints . So at last you are going to feel sorry for yourself and your true emotion if you depend on others .
Allama Iqbal therefore tells us to depend on Allah(SWT) who is the Creator and The King , by this you don't need to bow before everyone , and your inner self has a greater status .
May Allah SWT help us act upon the advices of Allama Iqbal , and help us work out the needs for growing our inner self ( Khudi).
I have made a clip of the kalam recited by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan , it has a very melodious voice and is very enjoyable .For listening Click the Link .... --->>Tu Rah Naward-e-Shauq Hai ...!
